Traffic Update

There have been parking changes on the streets near the back entrance to the school.

The right-hand curbside on Highland AND Arlmont are now 5 min.
Parking White Zones 7-9 on school days. The short Highland street entrance into the school is now a NO PARKING Red Zone on both sides.

This should add a safety margin for kids walking to school.

Safety Tips for Parents/Drivers dropping off Children

1. Please drive SLOWLY when entering AND leaving the drop off/pick up areas.

2. Please remember to put your vehicle in PARK and use your EMERGENCY/HAND BRAKE (Your foot on the brake will not stop your car from moving forward into kids).

3. Please have children exit from the non-traffic (passenger side) of the car.

4. Have children move directly to the sidewalk and tell them not to walk in the street area.

5. Please do not position your vehicle where you will have to back up after drop off.  Please don’t park in Staff or Handicapped zones.

6. The Yellow Zone is for quick loading and unloading ONLY and extends to the flagpole.

7. Use the crosswalks with your kids and don’t walk them into the moving vehicles area. And please don’t block or park in the crosswalks/fire zone areas.

8. Please move as far forward as possible (to the left of the flagpole) when dropping off.

9. Be aware that there is no curb on the upper portion of the drop off area and that many Kindergartners and First Graders walk by the nose of your car. DRIVE SLOW!

10. Remember, following these guidelines keep YOUR CHILDREN SAFE!

2. Please remember to put your vehicle in PARK and use your EMERGENCY/HAND BRAKE (Drop off in front of the crosswalk is illegal).

3. DON’T BLOCK the Highland/Arlmont crosswalk or park in it. USE YOUR BRAKES!

4. Have children move directly to the sidewalk and tell them not to walk in the street area.

5. Please do not position your vehicle where you will have to back up after drop off.

6. Please approach Arlmont from Northwest HIGHLAND Street off Arlington.

7. Do not come up Arlmont as it creates traffic congestion and will slow your exit.

8. Use the crosswalks with your kids and don’t walk them into the moving vehicles area.

9. Parking and walking your kids in is the best option or USE THE FRONT ENTRANCE!!

10. Drive slow going downhill on Arlmont as people are walking up it.

11. Upper Arlmont is a Private Road and entry creates discord with the residents (who can call Kensington Police who will issue tickets for ANY infractions).
