How Does KEF Raise Funds?
Besides the Garden Party, KEF holds a Telethon in the fall, and a Spell-a-thon in the spring. We are lucky to live in such a supportive community; besides donating items and services for the Garden Party, community members donate to KEF during our annual community drive. And we benefit from families listing Kensington Education Foundation as the recipient for the schoolpop and escrip accounts. More information will be available soon!
The annual KEF Telethon is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2007, starting at 4:00pm

The donor form will be coming home in the Thursday packet the week of September 10th. If you didn't get it or may have lost it, you may download it here: Telethon2007.pdf
This week each student will bring home the annual ‘Telethon” letter. The Telethon is KEF’s second largest annual fundraiser (after the Garden Party) and it is a significant event. The suggested contribution level is $250 for each child. Larger donations are greatly appreciated. Because KEF is an all-volunteer organization with little overhead, your contributions go directly to enrichment programs for the kids. Contribute whatever you can and remember that your contributions are tax deductible.
Did you know that many companies have gift matching programs? In most cases it is as simple as completing a form with the wonderful result of doubling your contribution! You can quickly find out if your employer has a program by clicking on the following link or by cutting and pasting it into your Web browser (courtesy of UCLA’s Planned Giving department). If your company has a gift matching program you will be provided with the contact name, the matching amount, and the required documentation. It is really that easy!

The annual KEF Telethon is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2007, starting at 4:00 PM.
If you have not returned your envelope by then, we will attempt to contact you. At that time, a member of the KEF board can also answer any questions you might have about our enrichment programs. A bonus for returning your envelope early is that your name is removed from the telethon list and you will not receive a call.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via phone at 510-527-1319 or via email at jthomsen@ aol.com.
We are counting on your generous support so please offer your contributions early (and often)!
Jim Thomsen
