Attendance, Absences & Tardy

Important information:

Attendance: When your children are ill or absent please call the school office at 231-1415-ext 0 or you can leave a message if no one answers the phone. You can also send a note to the teacher explaining the reason for the absence. Students are considered Truant if they have three absences and we do not have a note, phone call, or other documentation from the parent verifying the reason for the absence.

Remember the school does not get paid when your child is absent, no matter what the reason for the absence. We lose approx. $35.00 per day for every student who is absent.

Tardies
If your children are late to school and they arrive at 8:45 or later, they need to come to the office to get a Tardy Slip before they go to their classrooms. They are still marked Tardy even if they are only a few minutes late. Please get them to school on time. They miss important information and instructional time when they are late.

Independent Study: Your child can do an Independent Study Contract if he/she is going to be absent for five days or more. Please let the teacher know at least 2 weeks in advance so work can be prepared for your child. You and your child are responsible for all of the work, and it must be turned in to the teacher as soon as your child returns from the absence.

Calendar: Please check the calendar for the year and try to schedule vacations, one day trips, medical appointments, etc on days that we will be out of school.
